We, the family of the late Robin Kitt Callender are seeking your support for "Robin's Law".
We would like Parliament to pass a law making it a specific criminal offence if the manager of a care home fails to inform the next of kin if a resident who lacks capacity suffers from an ongoing illness and ultimately dies.
We also feel that close family members have the right to be consulted by medical staff if their loved one who lacks capacity to act in their own best interests needs medical attention. Currently, this is only considered "best practice". We think it should be mandatory for medical practitioners to inform the next of kin when treating such patients.
This issue should be of concern to every family in the country as no one is immune from the possibility of requiring continuous care due to an accident or illness.
